SCHOOL READINESS ASSESSMENT

The aim of this assessment is to determine the level of school readiness for the learners in the pre-school age group, specifically for those learners who will be seven (7) years old and commencing with formal academic schooling next year.

Standardized assessments are used in testing, which are conducted by
Jeneane van Helsdingen (B.Arb;UP), an occupational therapist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

If your child was born in 2009, and you are interested in having this assessment done, please collect a form from the office or from Teacher Rietha, before 20 May 2015. (Cost: R520)

PLANNING FOR 2016

Thank you for all the referrals from you, our parents. We appreciate it, and as always, we are blessed with a full school a year in advance, along with a waiting list.
Many potential Farmyard parents on our list are making enquiries regarding placement for January 2016.

We will only be able to give them answers when we know which of our current FY learners will be leaving us. Obviously we would prefer to keep our learners at FY, but we do understand that some learners will leave to go to a bigger private school, or to go to a Primary school with
Gr. RR and R. Please know that FY is the best place for your child to prepare for Gr. 1. However, if you are planning to leave us at the end of 2015, please let us know as soon as possible.

WE ARE COLLECTING EMPTY TINS

Kindly bring us all your empty tins. The ones you would normally throw away after you have opened a tin of veggies, jam, fruit etc. The medium sized ones will work best for our project. Thank you for your co-operation.

LATE COLLECTION OF CHILDREN:

If a child is collected after 18:00, a R200 fine will be charged, PLUS R100 per 5 minutes from 18:05. (As stated in your enrolment form.)
Please be on time parents. As we have families and responsibilities of our own, we are not available after 18:00.

WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME

Parents, please keep your child at home if he/she:
*has any contagious skin condition or ANY contagious illness
*has a fever or had a fever during the night
*has a heavy cold or flu
*has a runny tummy
*has an eye infection
*has a bad, persistent cough
*has been vomiting
*has a sore throat
*has tonsillitis
*has head lice or nits. Please inspect your child’s hair regularly, and if you find
head lice or nits, DO NOT bring him/her to school until the situation is resolved.
Your pharmacist will be able to give you the best advice.) We have to keep the
well being of all our children in mind, and protect them from contracting an
illness to the best of our ability.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

Please remember to plan for the following:
We will be closed on all public holidays, and on 15 June and 25 September 2015.

We will close on Wednesday 9 December 2015 and open on Wednesday
6 January 2016.
As Farmyard only officially closes during the December holiday, a holiday
programme will be followed during the April, July and October holidays.
